An economy grows only when more dollars are in the hands of job creating consumers, which is the working class, not the sated upper class, but the Michigan legislators do the opposite. Profit margins don’t matter without customers, while in a booming market, reasonable taxes don’t drive businesses away. Once their capital needs to purchase labor and materials in advance of sales are satisfied, tax cuts for business only increases their profits, which is why Wall Street booms while Main Street busts. Consumers create jobs that business exploits. Jobs are created when business cannot exploit consumer demand for their product or service without more workers. Congress needs to get to work with honor and integrity. Shame on us! This is not the America I once was proud of. The way I understand the situation is that many legislators, as well as our president feel it is more important to reward the already rich (expecting reciprocity, of course) by turning their backs on those in need of health services. Certainly we can be more compassionate as a nation than what the current proposed legislation would provide. Way too many citizens would be discriminated against for such conditions as old age, disabilities, illness, or being too poor to afford coverage. The situation in Congress as they “deal” with the proposed Affordable Health Care Act is shameful! Both the Senate and the House versions of the AHCA appear to me to be both selfish and heartless.

We will continue to add Advanced Placement courses, college courses and other advanced opportunities for students. We understand that families want to ensure their children reach their academic potential. The Waterford School District is very proud of all the options we’ve added for advanced students the past two school years. Our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) offerings are also expanding. All these are in addition to the dual enrollment opportunities we offer where the college credit options are limitless.įor 2017-18, we will also be initiating a new advanced option where high school students can earn an endorsed diploma. We also have articulation agreements with Baker College, Davenport University, Ferris State University and OCC where students can earn college credit in over 54 different courses. Wayne State University offers classes in Engineering and Business right on our campus. Students can earn high school credit in middle school and college credit in high school. We have accelerated tracks at middle school and high school where students can take courses a year or more beyond their grade level. We offer 21 different Advanced Placement (AP) courses at our high schools. Students have a wide range of advanced options available to them in mathematics, English and across the curriculum at both Waterford Mott and Waterford Kettering. Waterford district doesn’t lack advanced coursesĪ recent letter regarding Waterford Schools’ advanced high school options was misleading and uninformed.
